Mix and Match

When you work in a professional setting you can easily find yourself wearing plan suits and bland colors. Sticking to black, gray and tan is the safe way to feel professional but becoming comfortable with mixing color and prints will take your everyday professional look to the next level!  Have fun with colors and patterns and don't let the safe zone control you.

It is my goal to feel age appropriate while still looking professional and gaining the respect of my clients and co-workers. Pairing a bold or a peice that shows your personality with a neutural basic can be the key to achieving your desired look.

When you see an item on the rack in the store you may question what you would pair that item with.  When in doubt think about the items you already own and how many options you could obtain.  Colors such as mustard yellow, plum, navy, green and blue are all colors that you could pair with about anything! Start with purchasing some solid colors that you wouldn't normally wear and pair them with something that you already have and feel comfortable in.  Using patterns can also be a fun way to dress up or change some of the existing outfits already in your closet.

The pieces in the outfits below could be switched around and allow you to achieve many looks using the same pieces.

See additional options below

Savvy Shopping Tips

While shopping can be fun and picking out your favorite pieces is simple enough, it isn't always so easy to find what you like for a price you are willing to pay.

Here are a few tips for finding a great deal:

  1. Always start shopping from the back of the store first.  This is where you will most often times find the clearance and sale racks.
  2. Allow the store to add your e-mail address to their data base.  This will allow you to receive notifications of sales and even better they will begin to send you coupons.
  3. If you have the will power to control your purchases on a store credit card or at least pay off your card each month, it can be beneficial to have a store credit card. This will also allow you to receive e-mails with upcoming sales and you will get great coupons or even free items.
  4. You can usually find the best deals when you are not looking for something specific.  I know this means you are shopping just because, but this allows you to stick to a budget.
  5. Make sure you have a few timeless pieces in your closet, then you can begin to buy statement peices that can be mixed and matched to make many looks.
